Arrival to airport Ljubljana and meet with an English-speaking local guide for drive to Maribor, the second biggest town in Slovenia proud to have the oldest vine in the world and with a character much different from the capital! Maribor is a cosmopolitan city on the banks of the river Drava, full of tourist attractions. Although you can easily visit it as a day trip from Ljubljana, Maribor has become a popular city break or a weekend break destination. A visit to Maribor must be part of every tour to Slovenia. It is embraced by wine-growing hills on all sides. Its Historic town center is marked by the Austrian influence, and we will admire the lively and colorful squares - Grajski trg (Castle square), Slomskov trg (Slomsek square) and Glavni trg (Main square), and in Lent, the old river port. It is possible to cover all these attractions on a walking tour of Maribor.
The pinnacle of Maribor culture has been the title of the European Capital of Culture in 2012. After sightseeing of the main square, castle and Lent, we will head on to Jeruzalem for tasting local wine and food. Picturesque village known for its scenery landscape and one of the most beautiful wine roads in Europe.
Lunch at local Restaurant. Jeruzalem Wine Road that is famous for numerous kinds of excellent wines will finally take us to Ptuj, one of the most beautiful towns in Slovenia. Ptuj is the oldest town in Slovenia with very rich history and many monuments to prove it. We will take stop for sightseeing with Ptuj Castle. Laying by the Drava river, Ptuj was an important station on the prehistoric Baltic - Mediterranean amber trading route. Historically, it is one of the most important places in the country, and its 2000-year history can be felt as you walk through the town.
You will admire the elegant city squares and townhouses, rich in architectural details and incorporated archaeological pieces. A view from the castle above the city is simply breath-taking. Arrival back to Ljubljana for dinner at local Restaurant and overnight.
After breakfast, meet with the driver and transfer to Golf Course Diners (approx. tee time 9-10 am). Lunch excluded. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia for a half-day visit of the picturesque Old town including Cathedral of St. Nicholas, Preseren square, Triple Bridge, Market designed by the architect Joze Plecnik, Baroque town hall and the Dragon Bridge. We will continue the sightseeing with a funicular ride to the medieval Ljubljana Castle. After sightseeing dinner at local Restaurant and overnight in Ljubljana.
After breakfast, meet with the driver and transfer to King's Course Royal Bled (approx. tee time 9-10 am). Afterwards, drive to Bled to meet with local guide and start with the sightseeing of Bled. Embark a traditional Pletna boat and take a ride to Bled Island to visit the Church of St. Mary. Enter the medieval Bled Castle which stands on a high cliff overlooking Bled Lake and enjoy the astonishing scenery of the Julian Alps and the lake below the castle. After sightseeing dinner at local Restaurant in Bled. Transfer back to Ljubljana for overnight. Dinner at local Restaurant.
After breakfast, Day is free to explore on your own. Dinner at local Restaurant.
After breakfast, meet with the driver and transfer to Golf Course Arboretum (approx. tee time 9-10 am). Afterwards, visit of the Botanical and flower park Arboretum Volcji potok, where we can see one of the actual flower exhibitions. Next, drive to Zgornje Palovce village to visit Budnar's house museum. An organized guided visit of the house shows us old Slovenian habits and customs. A delicious Slovenian traditional dinner will follow, but before that we'll get an opportunity to create our own bread loaf and bake it in the old wood fired oven. An image of a kind grandmother that caringly prepares a delicious meal will come to reality and will last in your memory for a long time. Transfer back to Ljubljana for overnight.
After breakfast, meet with the driver and transfer to the airport for a return flight home. Farewell.
