On a beautiful morning at Tollygunge Club, golfers teed it up in the inaugural edition of Protouch X My Golf Tours Invitational and Parent Child Team tournament, a first of its kind tournament happening on Indian soil aimed at bringing parents and children together for a day of golf, fun, and most importantly, valuable family time.
The first event of this Protouch X My Golf Tours Parent Child tour that will see its next tournament held at Poona Golf Club in November witnessed moms, dads, sons, daughters and grandparents dusting off their golf clubs to celebrate this great game.
The tournament followed the 2 Ball Scramble format which is exactly what it sounds like: a scramble in which the teams consist of two players each. After both the golfers play their stroke, the teammates select the best one and play their next shot from that spot. This is repeated, including on the putting green, until the ball is holed.
In the Individual competition, Gaurav Ghosh carded one under 69 to grab the gross winners prize. Kartikaye Krishna finished first in the net competition following a round of three under 67. Capt Sanjiv Dhir also returned with the same score but because of a higher countback, he was declared the runner up. Joydeep Datta Gupta took home the third place title scoring two under 68.
Moving to the teams section, there were a lot of prizes up for grabs. The team of Hiranmay Chatterjee and Shreyon Chatterjee won the Mens/Boys team division (Nett) with a net score of 62.5. The team of Rajesh Poddar and Aariv Neotia took home the Open 9 Hole team section (Nett) scoring 31.75 in net.
In the Gross section, Anant Bajoria and Shivang Bajoria came out on top in the One Non Golfer Parent Team division with a score of 29 (9 Hole). Sawan Kumar and Parikshet More raised the runner up title following a score of 53. In Womens/Girls division, Oona Khanna and Devyani Khanna captured the title after scoring 85. Songit Bagrodia and Kaushal Bagrodia were crowned champions in Mens/Boys team division after carding four under 66. The teams of Amit Mishra and Anshul Mishra & H.S Bindra and Gurmehr Bindra finished with the same score of three under 67, but again on the merit of a better back nine score Amit Mishra and Anshul Mishra were awarded the second place title while H.S Bindra and Gurmehr Bindra were declared third place holders.
Mahitosh Ray and Mayukh Ray used an impressive 9 Hole score of 35 to win the Open 9 Hole Team division while Nitesh Sharaff and Abeer Sharaff scored 39 to take home the runner up title. The team of Abhishek Shah and Tashvi Shah were victorious in the Mixed Team division.
